Joomla FAQ's
Joomla Template Disclaimer

* Important: 1.5 Joomla templates are compatible for 1.5 Joomla Install only.

PLEASE NOTE

Because Joomla is a database-driven infrastructure, your template will NOT display as a full site like it does in our live previews when you first upload it. You will need to generate the pages of your site within your Joomla admin by setting up modules, creating articles, creating menus, etc . This is, by definition, how a Joomla, data-base driven website must be developed.

IMPORTANT: It will be up to you to develop your site within the Joomla admin. We do provide basic instructions on how to set up your modules, but the rest will be up to you. Please be sure to read our Joomla FAQ's page.

1.) Q:  Can I purchase a Joomla template before I install my Joomla database?
1.) A:  No, we don’t recommend it.  We ask that all our buyers have Joomla already installed on their server, and have some basic working knowledge of the Joomla infrastructure itself.   Depending on which joomla version template you want to purchase, you need to go to www.joomla.org and locate the appropriate Joomla database. We HIGHLY recommend you install the Joomla database to your server & experiment with the default template, and infrustructor of Joomla prior to purchasing a Joomla template.

NOTE: By default Joomla! 1.5 manual installations come with only “Main Menu” module if you do not install the “sample data” during the installation process. We highly recommend you install the "sample data" during your Joomla database installation to ensure you have the populated modules. If you do not install the “sample data” during a manual Joomla 1.5 installation, then you will have to manually install all of your modules. If you are installing manually it's important to know that a particular module and menu needs to be named properly. Please be sure that your “Top Menu” is installed within your “Module Manager” and the Menus > Top Menu unique name reads exactly as "topmenu".

2.) Q: Will my template come with all the same web pages, links, and content as the live demo?
2.) A: No. If you have questions about this, please contact us prior to purchasing.

3.) Q: Do you offer customization services before or after purchasing a Joomla template, or services that convert an existing html into a Joomla template?
3.) A: No, sorry we do not offer customization or Joomla conversion on any of our Joomla products at this time.

4.) Q: Is there a return policy?
4.) A: Sorry, because our templates are intangible products they are non-refundable.   Furthermore, we cannot take responsibility for a customer's lack of Joomla knowledge.  Please ensure you have the prerequisite Joomla knowledge and required software (graphic program for editing your logo) to make use of these templates. We ask that all our buyers have Joomla already installed on their server, and have some basic working knowledge of the Joomla infrastructure itself.  In rare situations, when a template defect emerges, we do offer a refund/exchange policy.

5.) Q: Does a joomla template purchase include instruction on how to install the template and set it up?
5.) A:  Yes, we do provide a comprehensive, template-install instruction file, along with helpful screen shots to aid in setting up your Joomla modules ect.  Note, our instructions do not include how to install the actual Joomla database itself.  We advise all our customers to have joomla already installed.

6.) Q: What software do I need to use Joomla?
6.) A: You will need to install the 1.5x Joomla infrastructures to your server for all 1.5 templates.   In addition, you will need Adobe Photoshop 7+, or a software that allows editing psd layers to modify things such as your logo, and other misc graphics that come with your template.

7.) Q: Do I need an html editor for Joomla?
7.) A: No, not really.  You can mostly edit your index.php and css files within the Joomla admin.  However, if you choose to use an html editor when making modifications to those files, you can use any PHP editor like Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Web.

8.) Q: What kind of support will I receive with my Joomla template?
8.) A:  You can receive basic support regarding the initial setup of your Joomla template.   That only includes support on getting your modules, and other misc items the same as we have in our live demos.

Our support for joomla templates does not include the following:
  • Installing your joomla infrastructure for you, or giving guidance on how to.
  • Installing or trouble-shooting 3rd party extensions that did not come with your joomla purchase.
  • Giving guidance on how to set up your joomla content, pages, links, and images, troubleshooting errors or problems within your joomla infrastructure.  In such cases, we recommend that you utilize the joomla forums http://forum.joomla.org, and or locate the appropriate joomla manual needed in your particular situation.
  • Revamping your template outside of it's original parameters. This includes: color changes, template widths, images, adding additional users, installing additional modules and extensions, etc.

9.) Q: How do I keep my Joomla site secure?
9.) A:  In order to ensure the secure nature of any Joomla website it is important that the user install all security updates provided by the Joomla security team. Stay informed by signing up for security alerts and/or rss feeds from the Joomla team. Click here for security news and more info.

10.) Q: If I purchase a 1.5 Joomla template, will it work in a Joomla 1x version install?
10.) A:  No, it will not.  A 1.5 Joomla template is not compatible with a Joomla 1x database and will only work in a 1.5 Joomla infrastructure.

11.) Q: I purchased a 1.5 Joomla template and do not have the same populated module list as what you show in your template instructions?
11.) A:  By default Joomla! 1.5 manual installations come with only “Main Menu” module if you do not install the “sample data” during the installation process.  If you do not install the “sample data” during a manual Joomla 1.5 installation, then you will have to manually install the modules used with our template.

12.) Q: Are your Joomla templates compatible with any Joomla version?
12.) A: We can only guarantee the template version you purchase works, and renders properly, within the Joomla database it’s developed for.  In other words, if you purchase a 1.5 Joomla template then you can expect it to be fully compatible with all 1.5x database versions, and any 1.5x updates.  When there is new Joomla versions available such as 1.6, 1.7, etc, in the future you should not expect a 1.5 to necessarily work in these later database versions.  Although there is legacy mode and template override functions available for reverse compatibility, we still cannot guarantee an older template will work in future Joomla versions.  In this case, when deciding to install a new Joomla version that is not the version of your template, you should test it in a sub folder prior to setting it to your main site. Joomla installations from a 1.5 to a "future 1.6", and so on, are not essential to install directly upon being available, and should be done carefully when wanting to maintain the look, feel, and function of your purchased Joomla template. In most cases, the older version will be supported for some time, or at least until the new version becomes stable for a period of time.
